Did you know that
retrocommissioning (RCx) can reduce your total building
energy costs by 5-20%? Do you have a building or several
buildings that you think would be good candidates for
RCx? Contact us
now!
The Retrocommissioning
Services & Incentives Program's (RCx
Program) financial incentives and technical services are
still available to help Pacific Gas & Electric
Company (PG&E) commercial customers save energy and
money through retrocommissioning, but time is running out. The
Program will accept applications through the end of
2007, or as long as funds are still
available.
Submit an
application today to start the screening process and
learn how you can benefit from the Program's services
and financial incentive offerings. The application is
no-obligation and only takes a few minutes to fill
out!
Our Field Energy Analysts, Kate
Merrill, Greg Murphy, and Brenda Hopewell, are available immediately to
help answer your questions and assist you in getting
started. | |
Program Update
To-date, the Program has received
applications for buildings totaling almost
20 million square feet of building space! The
first set of projects to pass screening have potential
to save a combined 16 million kilowatt hours of energy,
or nearly 45% of the total program
goal.
The Program continues to accept
applications from PG&E commercial
customers with buildings larger than 100,000 square
feet of conditioned space. To find out if your building
qualifies for the Program, contact a program
representative today!

| Project Spotlight: Cushman and
Wakefield's 303 Second Street
The
RCx Program kicked off Cushman and Wakefield's 303
Second Street RCx project in mid-June. The 303 Second
Street property is a 731,972 square foot
office building in downtown San Francisco, and the first
in a series of several other Cushman and Wakefield
buildings to enter into the RCx Program.
Their continued participation in the RCx Program
is a testament to Cushman and Wakefield's wide
support of energy management strategies and other
sustainability initiatives. Joining the RCx Program also
complements Cushman and Wakefield's strategy to
encourage ENERGY STAR®
and LEED certification in its buildings, all of
which result in reduced operating costs, increased
building values, healthier work environments, and
improved relationships with local buildings
officials.
The customized, in-depth RCx investigation
of the 303 Second Street building was conducted
by RetroCom Energy Strategies in late summer.
Investigation efforts focused on finding energy
savings with the building's chillers, cooling towers,
boilers, pumps, central air handlers, and control
systems. Initial investigation results show the
greatest energy savings are expected to be found through
adjustment and optimization of economizers,
optimization of start and stop times, heating lockout
controls, and variable volume pumping.
Implementation of selected energy-saving measures
is expected to begin in late
2007.
According to David Starkey, General
Manager at 303 Second Street:
"We understand the benefits of
retrocommissioning. And the RCx Program has made
retrocommissioning an easy choice for us by providing
us with a customized RCx investigation and by helping
streamline RCx logistics across all parties throughout
the project. We look forward to implementing
retrocommissioning measures in our
building!" |
RCx
Workshops
This summer, over 80
building owners, building engineers, and property
managers gathered at the City of San
Jose and the Pacific Energy Center in San Francisco to attend the Program's
RCx workshops. Larry Luskay, Senior Engineer with
Portland Energy Conservation, Inc. (PECI), showed
participants how to analyze their utility bills to
uncover easily-found energy-saving opportunities,
identify common low-cost energy-saving operational
improvements, benchmark their building, and more.
Workshop participants were given the
opportunity to ask questions and share their ideas and
experience with RCx. Check out the workshop
presentation on our website here. |

Case Study
At The Irvine Company, energy
efficiency is recognized as an important part of
maintaining a high-quality investment portfolio.
In 2004-2005, The Irvine
Company sought to find energy savings by participating
in the local retrocommissioning program
administered by PECI. The Symphony Towers RCx project in
downtown San Diego resulted in significant annual energy
savings that paid The Irvine Company back in just four
months! Read about the Symphony Towers' RCx success
story on the Program website here.
White Paper
